Akhmal Acts: Y.A.Y.O. (You Are Your Own)

Hello there, viewers. Wow... It has almost been a month since I last posted anything here. It's November, obviously, I'm at the busiest days of the semester, finishing assignments, going through acting rehearsals and above all, revising for the upcoming exam. Which is next week! I just feel like updating, there's so much to talk about, but the main highlight is obviously, the drama theatre play.

Yes, I designed that poster (with the help of Hanif Akmal, amazing graphic designer)

It went very well, thankfully. It still amazes me how we achieved more than $1,000 for that production ALONE. Incredible.

(Taken from a friend's Instagram: One of the scenes for our play - surrealism choreography number)

I apologise I still have no access to the LEGIT photos of the performance, but here's our photo:

(Thanks to Willy for the photo: the casts of Y.A.Y.O.)

The plays presented the different unheard voices in Brunei, celebrating the differences: disabilities, IWA, as well as, victims of drug and domestic abuse.

We also added a choreography number as the finale with movements/gestures of the sign language.

I played a devious, sinister drug dealer, as you can see in that photo. LOL. Excellent reviews from the audience, I'm very glad.

So what's next, you ask? At the moment, as you can tell, I've been busy doing my revision for the upcoming exam. After that, I think it's time for me to have a major break from the public. Gonna sleep it off, read novels and spend time with the fam. I might or might not go out this December (despite invitations to travel to Thailand or Singapore), I still think I want a big break.

I might continue my short film, to add something on my portfolio. This blog needs more photography stuff too! We'll see how it goes.

Shoutout to everyone who's sitting for the exams!

Ps. My huge condolences to one of my closest friends, Nina Ishak, for losing her mother yesterday. Stay strong!
